The LIFE Ride explores the south-west region of the Margaret River over 3 days

The LIFE Ride is a 3-day road cycling event around the scenic Margaret River region to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. In its inaugural year, over 160 cyclists and their support crew will take on a 3-day tour throughout the magnificent region of the Margaret River in Western Australia.

It takes place in the South West region of Margaret River which is best known for its wine/craft beer and surf beaches.

Based in Margaret River, the LIFE Ride is held over three riding days, with the route taking in the scenic Cape Leeuwin, Cape Naturaliste and the magnificent Margaret River wineries.

Each day, there is a choice from one of either two groups to ride in, the Ride and the Challenge.

The Ride group, cycles between 90 and 115 km per ride based on a moderate average speed.

The Challenge group, cycles between a 100 – 150km per ride based on a faster average speed.

There will be a bus transfer from Perth to Margaret River. The LIFE Ride is gearing up to be a premium event in the in Western Australia cycling calendar.

The LIFE Ride raises vital funds for pioneering cancer research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. It is organised by the Tour de Cure, an Australian charity that raises money to fund cancer research, prevention and support services and programs.  They are based in Sydney and organise cycling tours and fundraising events throughout Australia. There are a series of events to suit riders who live in any state of Australia covering different timeframes. This includes the Signature Tour from Sydney to Geelong this year, the High Country Charity Ride, the Westpac 202,  the Woolies Wheels and Walks, the SA Discovery Tour, the LIFE Ride, the Peter Mac Ride,  the Can4Cancer ride.  That is 8 rides in total each year!

Most of the rides tend to be a multi-day ride or event covering anywhere from 200 to 1000 km.

The Tour de Cure cycling events have some well-known high profile cyclists including former profession cyclist, Jens Voigt, Australian champion rower Drew Ginn,  Paralympic Matthew Formston, the professional actor Eric Bana and the Sunrise sports presenter Mark Beretta. These people cycle the full event,  they don’t just sit on the sideline and wave you off at the start line. They ride the whole distance with you, so you can get up close and personal.
