The Woolies on Wheels Ride is a 3 day ride for intermediate riders looking for their next big challenge!
The Woolies on Wheels Ride is the opportunity to spend 3 days riding through the scenic northern coast of Sydney.
This is a 3 day tour starting in Bella Vista on the North Western side of Sydney. The route is based upon the following destinations: Bella Vista to Wisemans Ferry, through to Terrigal on the northern coast, and then returning to Sydney. The ride is limited to 120 riders who are employee’s, businesses, partners and customers of Woolworths in an effort to keep people being active.
This ride is for the intermediate rider ie you should be comfortable on a bike and able to descend safely. You will be able to ride 100km and ascend 750m in one ride. You should be riding 200km per week in training for the ride. Tour de Cure does help with training programs during the lead up to the ride.
At the time this ride is held, which is late autumn, the weather can be described as cool ie 5 to 15 degree days. So expect to have a cold front and showers come through, based upon a trip this long.
The Woolies on Wheels Ride raises vital funds for pioneering cancer research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. It is organised by the Tour de Cure, an Australian charity that raises money to fund cancer research, prevention and support services and programs. They are based in Sydney and organise cycling tours and fundraising events throughout Australia. There are a series of events to suit riders who live in any state of Australia covering different timeframes. Most of the rides tend to be a multi-day ride or event covering anywhere from 200 to 1000 km.
