Reef to Reef is a 4 day MTB stage race in tropical North Queensland, around Port Douglas and Cairns.
Reef to Reef MTB Race is a 4 day MTB multi-stage endurance race in tropical far north region of Queensland, based around the Port Douglas and Cairns region. Far North Queensland is a popular tourist destination with lots to see and do. You’ll have access to tablelands, hinterland, farmlands, MTB parks, and tropical rainforest and some of the warmest hospitality the region has to offer.
Reef to Reef is held as a race, but is seen as more of a ride, with many riders returning each year to attend. The course doesn’t require a high level of technical difficulty, which means that as long as you’re reasonably fit and have some MTB skills, you’ll be good to enter!
Starting on the reef fringed Coral Sea coast it quickly heads inland across a network of trails through tablelands, hinterland, farmlands, MTB parks, and tropical rainforest before finishing back at the coast four days and 190 km’s later. Each day’s stage has its own unique terrain and character to keep things interesting with a mix of fast flowing single trail, farm track, groomed downhill trails and fire trails – many through private land that can only be ridden while racing the Reef to Reef.
Stage 1 This day starts and finishes at Smithfield MTB Park (near Cairns), with 18km distance and 740m of climbing.
Stage 2 This day starts and finishes at Davies Creek MTB Park (near Cairns), with 51km distance and 800m of climbing.
Stage 3 This day starts and finishes at Mount Molly (near Port Douglas), with 70km distance and 600m of climbing.
