There’s a lot of cycling events being held in New South Wales each year. Bicycle NSW and Cycling NSW (Cycling Australia) are the peak cycling bodies for this state.
The cycling NSW events predominantly tend to be held during spring and autumn, when the weather is ideal for cycling i.e. not too hot, too cold or too wet!
A lot of road cycling events NSW are based around the Sydney region, with a small number being held in regional centres. These country rides provide the perfect opportunity to get away for the weekend and to support regional communities. It’s a great excuse for a long weekend!
You’ll find a mix of 1 day rides with a range of distances that cater for the novice, the daily commuter and families through to the experienced weekend warrior.
There’s a range of multi-day NSW cycling events that are either point to point or looped. Many of these are quite challenging and require a reasonable level of fitness and some structured training.
With the Snowy Mountains and the Great Dividing Ranges passing through NSW, this means that there are some rides with equivalent climbs to the Alps or the Pyrenees.
You’re sure to find the perfect ride in the cycling NSW calendar to match your level of experience and fitness. As well as find a ride that will challenge you!
