Dare to bare all in the World Naked Bike Ride in Byron Bay in a way that motorists will not miss
The World Naked Bike Ride Byron Bay is a naked ride that is held in Byron Bay. The Byron Bay event is a short 30 minute ride and suitable for all fitness levels. You must be on a bike, skates or blades.
The purpose of riding naked is to highlight the visibility or the distraction of motorists, who appear to be unable to see cyclists when wearing clothing.
The event itself is a free event (donations welcome) and is available to all people of all ages, both young and old. The World Naked Bike Ride is a global event with similar events happening throughout the world.
The amount of clothing that you do (or don’t wear) is up to you. You must wear a helmet, and nearly everyone wears shoes. You must also ride with some clothing to put on ‘just in case’. The ride organisers don’t say that the event is illegal, but they also don’t say that it is legal. They say that Police have been supportive and that there have been no arrests since the ride first started in 2006.
At this time of year, the weather in Byron Bay is in the last days of Summer and early Autumn. The temperature range from between 15 to 30 degrees, and with this event being held in the afternoon, it should be warm enough to be comfortably naked. The chance of rain is minimal and would only be a drizzle at best.
This is a unique event that is growing in popularity (and not just for cyclists but for the crowds who turn up to watch).
