Escape winter with a 1 or 3 day Gran Fondo  style event at the Velothon Sunshine Coast

Velothon Sunshine Coast is an annual gran fondo style cycling event that is held on the Sunshine Coast each year. Held during winter, it is a great opportunity to visit this popular tourist location and escape from the winter cold to warmer temperatures.

You can participate in either the 3 Day Velo with a distance of  330km (5,379 of climbing), riding either solo or as a team. Or you can ride solo in the 1 day Velo,  riding either 137km (2,508m of climbing) or 76km (1,718m of climbing).

This event starts and finishes at the Velo Clubhouse at Cotton Tree Park, Maroochydore.

This is a race with daily King of the Mountain, Sprint, Team or Stage winners’ jerseys, but many cyclists participate just for the love of riding.

The 3 Day Velothon is not for the faint hearted with its epic climbs and challenging descents. King of the Mountain sections will include some of the Sunshine Coasts best road cycling climbs. Featuring sublime views of both the coast and hinterland. Fast and winding descents make the climbs all the more worthwhile. If sprints get your blood pumping faster, you’ve got half a dozen to choose from with dedicated sprint sections through the Sunshine Coast’s best-loved towns.

The 1 Day Velothon is held on the last day of the 3 Day Velothon, offering either 76km or 137km distances around the northern area of Noosa and into the hinterland. Take in the scenery or put yourself firmly in the hurt-box racing your friends, the peloton or just the clock. This is the perfect one-day race to fit into a weekend away in paradise.
