The VeloVino Ride is a 5 day ride for food and wine lovers through the rolling Fleurieu Peninsula and Adelaide Hills

The VeloVino is 5 days of luxury cycling with an emphasis on enjoying local food and wine as you ride through the rolling hills behind Adelaide and The Fleurieu Peninsula. The ride starts in Adelaide and travels through McLaren Vale, Normanville, Victor Harbour, and Mount Lofty before returning to Adelaide. This ride is not so much about the riding. It is about the bespoke evening meals, premium lunches and hot breakfasts while on the route.  Each day you’ll be stopping for food tastings and experiences that will complement your meals with the wine and local microbreweries. You’ll also get the chance to meet some of the local growers, producers, Brewers and Chefs whilst staying in high-quality hotels, resorts and apartment-style accommodation whilst on tour.

The daily events for this ride should read more about the wineries you’ve visited,  the head Chefs you’ve met or the wine you’ve sampled instead of the distance you’ve covered or the metres gained.

Day 1. Adelaide to McLaren Vale.  You’ll be heading south from Adelaide, along the coastline to Vines Rail Trail, and onto McLaren Vale.

Day 2. McLaren Vale to Normanville.  You’ll continue south with a climb up Willunga Hill, which is one of the iconic climbs of the Tour Down Under.  En route you’ll be stopping through some of  South Australia’s best microbreweries before later enjoying dinner.

Day 3. Normanville to Victor Harbor. You’ll be cycling along the top of the range with views towards both coastlines before undertaking the undulations of The Fleurieu Peninsula.

Day 4. Victor Harbor to Mount Lofty (includes transfer).  The day starts with a bus ride from Victor Harbour to Mount Torrens were you cycle through the Adelaide Hills through to Mount Lofty.  Stop to try some of the great German pastries in other eateries and then continuing on through to the Mount Lofty House where dinner will be served.

Day 5. Mount Lofty to Adelaide. The final days starts off slowly before you descend back into Adelaide with a morning ride.

The VeloVino highlights the best of local produce and is a real bespoke and unique experience.

This ride happens in autumn, which means the weather in the Adelaide Hills and Victor Harbour area, so you can expect temperatures ranging from 10-15 degrees overnight and days with a  maximum of around 25 degrees. There is a low chance of rain, with the odd cold front which may bring a shower or two, but this is unlikely as Autumn is one of the best months to be cycling in South Australia.

The trip is not about the distance covered or the vertical metres gained. The VeloVino is more about the quality of the wine,  the experience of meeting the chief Winemakers and then eating with celebrated chefs from some of the fantastic restaurants throughout the region of the Adelaide Hills and the Fleurieu Peninsula. Cycling is merely an excuse.

This is an event to be enjoyed!
