Noosa Strade Bianche celebrates vintage cycling with a ride for steel framed bikes

The Noosa Strade Bianche is a cycling event for steel framed bikes with a festival to celebrate vintage cycling.

The love of steel is alive and well with the Strade Bianche Grand Fondo. This is a true celebration of vintage and retro steel bicycles that honour the old roads of cycling’s past.

Noosa is about 150km north of Brisbane, 1hr 40min from the airport, and at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast.  Noosa is a popular tourist destination with lots to see and do.

The main event is on Sunday morning, with the Gran Fondo (85km and +1200m).

The ride will test the ability to change gear for those who can spin or just keep grinding. From the town centre of Boreen Point, north of Noosa and heading west towards the hinterland, it does not take long before the road turns to a track and the feel of the white gravel.  Venture through Pomona on the great loop further to the north west and on to Mothar Mountain and the loop back to the sea at Boreen Point.

A post ride event will allow you to chill out and exchange some banter with your fellow dusty riders.

The Noosa Strade Bianche raises money for different charities (which change each year) and is in memory of Mark Dolan.

This is a great opportunity to spend a long weekend in the town of Noosa and the surrounding hinterland.
