The Noosa Classic is the perfect weekend away in the northern Sunshine coast with rides to everyone.
The Noosa Classic is a great excuse to escape from the city for the weekend, with 3 distances to suit riders at different levels of fitness. The 160km Maxi Classic, the 120km Challenge Classic and the family friendly 45km Social Classic.
This cycling event happens at Noosa which is about 150km north of Brisbane, 1hr 40min from the Brisbane airport, and at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast. Noosa is a popular tourist destination with lots to see and do.
This will not be the average Sunday ride as you will be starting from the surrounds of Noosa at Tewantin with the chance to investigate the amazing hills of the Noosa hinterland.
Straight from the start, it’s all up, and you can forget about the warm up. The 160km and 120km distances will take you through to Cooroy. It is shortly after that, that the longer riders will divert to gain distance and some extra elevation. The two rides come back together near Cooroy, following the undulating roads to the north and east to out to Kin Kin, before looping back south towards the start at Noosa. The 160km ride will have 1,850+m of elevation and the 120km ride at 1300+m of elevation gain. A good day out and the effort will be felt in the legs.
The post ride event village offers local produce and food with coffee and boutique breweries and wineries represented. There will be live music and entertainment and merchandise for sale.
The Noosa Classic allows you to raise money for the charity of your choice. There are 3 preferred charities, but you can donate to any registered charity, depending on the cause that you feel most passionate about.
The weather in August in this part of Australia, is at the end of Winter and locally it is temperate. You can expect a range from 10 to 25 degrees Celsius. It should be rain free but check the weather report before the ride starts. Hint: bring a light jacket or gilet just in case.
The Noosa Classic offers a rider the experience of visiting the northern sunshine coast and all of its attractions.
