Ride Details

MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride is a great day out with rides to suit everyone, regardless of your experience or fitness level!

The MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride is a community event with different rides to suit riders of all abilities as well as raise money to fight multiple sclerosis (MS).

This year, they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the event.

This ride, as the name suggests, is held in Brisbane Queensland.  It starts at Musgrave Park in South Brisbane, which isn’t far from the CBD on the south side of the Brisbane River.

The MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride is made up of 5 rides of varying distance to cater for different riding groups and rider abilities.  There is the family friendly 10km ride, the scenic 25km ride, the classic 50km ride, the challenging 100km ride and just for the anniversary year, a new 130km ride out to the Bayside region..

They all ride through the streets of South Brisbane heading out towards Wynnum at which is on the Moreton Bay coastline.  along the way you will have a police escort and Road marshalling to assist with their control of fellow riders

The 10km ride is perfect for families or those looking for a more relaxed ride. You’ll be riding along the Brisbane River, through South Brisbane and along Riverside Drive to Orleigh Park and back.

The 25km ride is suitable for those wanting to take it easy with a scenic ride as well as new riders who want to challenge themselves over a mid-range distance. You’ll leave South Brisbane and travel through the undulations going east past the Gabba into East Brisbane, and then heading slowly north towards Norman Park and out to Morningside. This is where the 25 km riders will do a u-turn and head back.

The 50km ride is suitable for those who ride regularly or are wanting to get a little competitive with their cycling mates. You’ll follow the course for the 25km riders, and instead of turning back, you’ll head north toward the industrial areas around the dockyards, cross the Gateway Bridge making your way to Balmoral before turning south through Morningside, to then return back to the start.

The 100km ride is much more challenging with some good climbs. You’ll start at Musgrave Park, and then leave the 50km riders at Wynnum, heading south towards Manly and Lota,  and then skirting around towards Point Wellington Point and Cleveland, down to near Sheldon before heading north west back through the area of Capalaba, Chandler and then making your way through to Carina and then joining back with C 50 and 25 km at Norman Park, and then making your way back past the Gabba to Musgrave Park.

The funds that are raised from the event are used by Ms Queensland to provide care support for all those who suffer MS.

The weather in Brisbane during July or June is very mild as it is winter. So you can expect low temperatures of 5-10 through to 20-25 and it is predominantly dry. Rain is unlikely, and if it doe, you could expect a light drizzle or passing shower. If it looks like rain, pack a gilet or light jacket just in case.

The MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride is more than just a fun day out. This is a community event with a large number of riders that have the common goal to help others in need.
