The Great Vic Bike Ride is an epic 9 day ride from the snow to the sea
The Great Vic Bike Ride is an annual bike holiday that tours a different part of Victoria each year. In 2024, the ride is showcasing all the best parts of Gippsland, you can expect amazing riding, charming host towns, incredible scenery, and of course good company.
You can ride for either
- 9 days (540km) The full Great Vic – nine days of camping, riding and exploring this beautiful part of Victoria with new and old friends.
- 5 days (300km) Expect some hills, thrills, caves and waves – the five day Great Vic explores some of the best sights of East Gippsland.
- 3 days (240km) All aboard for a taste of the Great Vic with a long weekend of riding and camping, featuring some of Victoria’s most iconic maritime hubs.
This event is also e-bike friendly, with secure overnight e-bike charging, easy transport and e-bike rental options.
In addition to the incredible scenery, each day provides a new riding goal (which you can take at your own pace) before rolling into the heart of each town and setting-up camp. You’ll then get to enjoy an afternoon and evening of entertainment, activities, and the warm hospitality that only a regional town has to offer.
Each year, the Great Vic Bike Ride changes its location and travels through a different part of regional Victoria and it’s surrounding states. This cycling event started in 1984, and is touted as Victoria’s favourite annual regional ride with over 3000 cyclists attending each year. It attracts a mixture of riders who are either attending for their first time or are regular attendees who keep on coming back!
This ride is almost like a holiday on a bike. You can join it with mates or family, and each evening you know you’ll have a bed and dinner awaiting you! You can either glam camp it or set up your own tent at the campsite.
Each evening there’s plenty of entertainment and options for food, with bars, live music, yoga and even an outdoor cinema. It reminds me of the well-known RAGBRAI (Registers annual great bike ride across Iowa) from the United States.
Included are all your meals including snacks and tea/coffee/milo stations. You’ll bring your own tent and set it up each night. Each morning you pack your bag, and it is trucked to the next campsite for you.

The Great Vic Bike Ride is a 9 day regional cycling tour that in 2022 starts in Koroit and finishes 522 kms later in Buninyong just outside Ballarat in Victoria.
This year features the Great Ocean Road, volcanic craters, Otway rainforests and Golden Plains.
This is a 9-day ride, in which you have 3 options available. The full 9 days that starts at Koroitand ends at Buninyong, the 5-day Koroit to Apollo Bay and the 3-day Apollo Bay to Buninyong.

The route in 2022 has overnight stops are in Koroit, Noorat, Timboon, Birregurra, Apollo Bay (2 nights), Anglesea, Inverleigh and finishing in Buninyong.
There’s a rest day in the middle by the beach at Apollo Bay, and each day you’ll ride between 70 to 100km. You’ll be riding through some stuffing countryside and get to ride along the iconic Great Ocean Road.
