The Great Vic Bike Ride is an epic 10 day ride along the beautiful Grampians and the famous Silos art in regional Victoria.
The Great Vic Bike Ride is a 10 day regional cycling tour that starts in South Australia and finishes in Victoria. This ride starts in the town of Robe on the Limestone Coast and follows the Great Ocean Road to Port Fairy and finishing in Torquay.
This is a 10-day ride, in which you have 3 options available. The full 10 days that start at Robe and finish at Torquay, the 5-day Robe to Port Fairy and the 5-day Port Fairy to Torquay.
Each year, the Great Vic Bike Ride changes its location and travels through a different part of regional Victoria and it’s surrounding states. This cycling event started in 1984, and is touted as Victoria’s favourite annual regional ride with over 3000 cyclists attending each year. It attracts a mixture of riders who are either attending for their first time or are regular attendees who keep on coming back!
The route in 2021, is their longest and you’ll be riding 652km over 10 days. There’s a rest day in the middle, and each day you’ll ride between 80 to 100km. You’ll be riding through some stuffing countryside and get to ride along the iconic Great Ocean Road.
This ride is almost like a holiday on a bike. You can join it with mates or family, and each evening you know you’ll have a bed and dinner awaiting you! You can either glam camp it or set up your own tent at the campsite.
Each evening there’s plenty of entertainment and options for food, with 2 bars, live music, yoga and even an outdoor cinema. It reminds me of the well-known RAGBRAI (Registers annual great bike ride across Iowa) from the United States.
Included are all your meals including snacks and tea/coffee/milo stations. You’ll bring your own tent and set it up each night. Each morning you pack your bag, and it is trucked to the next campsite for you.
This ride is capped at 5000 riders so get in early!
