The Bike Ride for Brain Cancer is a challenging 2 day charity ride along a spectacular course between Sydney and the Hunter Valley

The Bike Ride for Brain Cancer is a two-day ride starting in Sydney and going in through to the Hunter Valley. This ride is for the reasonably fit rider with experience in group etiquette and riding. You’ll be covering 240km over 2 days with some good climbs!

Day 1 Hornsby to Hunter Valley (140km with 13oom of elevation gain). The day kicks off from the Barker College in Hornsby which is the Brain Centre Collective building. You’ll then be travelling north on the Old Pacific Highway to the Hawkesbury River at Cowan and then the climb out,  which is an initial 200 m of climbing which then continues to undulate upwards for another 200 elevation gain over the next 30 km following close to the Royal National Park before descending through Wollombi into Cessnock.

Day 2 Hunter Valley Loop (100km). This day is a alrge loop through the Hunter Valley from Cessnock through to the Calais Estate Winery. Traversing the quiet roads off the main highways and byways, you’ll be going through some great vineyards with a combination of some small undulations. Then eventually ending up at the Calais Estate Winery which marks the long luncheon and the end point of the ride. What a reward for your efforts. 

The riders raise funds for Brain Cancer Biobanking Australia (BCBA) with a minimum target of $2500. Don’t let this challenge put you off, as the earlier you start, the sooner it will happen.

For this ride, the weather is at the end of summer, so expect a range from 15 to 30 degrees with a chance of rain.
