Event Details

The Big Canberra Bike Ride is Canberra’s largest group ride with over 1000 riders of all ages and abilities

The Big Canberra Bike Ride is Canberra’s annual celebration of cycling and the capital’s largest mass participation ride. This ride supports the Amy Gillet Foundation, a national organisation with a mission to reduce the incidence of serious injury and death of cyclists in Australia

There are four different rides available to cater for all types of rider.

The Big Family Ride which is 5 km long and along the banks of the lake with flat terrain.

The Big Lake Ride which is a 35km ride around Lake Burley Griffin.

The Big Dam Ride which is a 65 km ride out to the Cotter Dam which has some serious undulations before travelling around the front of the Parlament house. A total of 1200m elevation gain over the ride. That’s almost a solid 2% ride.

The Big Tidbinbilla Ride which is 120 km and 1600+ m of elevation gain. This follows the Big Dam Ride with a detour out and up to Tidbinbilla (at 850m) along Paddy River Road.

All rides start and finish at the event village at Rond Terrace on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. There will be free family entertainment and lots of food and drinks available.

This ride sounds like a great day out with rides to suit all the family and harder rides for those who are looking for a challenge.
