I would like to do the 50K, have done Beach Road before. Is this event ok for hybrid bikes or just road bikes accepted?
All bike styles apart from tri-bikes or having tri bars are accepted. This is due to having the hands not in contact with the brake levers. A hybrid bike would be fine for the event.
Who is doing traffic management for around the bay
Hi Tim, you’ll need to contact the event organisers for that info – 1800 639 634 or https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/contact-us/
I did find this page on their website with even more info! https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/rides-and-events/around-the-bay/event-info/changed-traffic-conditions/
My aim is to do this ride , first time . 50 this year Isnx need to chance my life I have started training , I am very over weight and this is my first goal on my journey to changing my life .
Welcome to the club, as you have identified training is the key. a couple of points to remember,
1. being consistent is the key to all training programs.
2. build-up the sessions, ie increase by 10% each week.
3. Do the sessions in blocks of 4 weeks, with 3 build up and 1 recovery.
4. Grab some mates and do it together.
I could write a lot more about training. BTW don’t give up over those winter months.
I’m also looking into doing this ride. have to keep setting a goal.
best of luck with the training and the event.
keep cranking. cheers
Jon
