Surprisingly enough, there’s a lot happening in regards to cycling in Western Australia. For an isolated State, it has a very active cycling community with rides scattered throughout the whole state.
You’ll find a lot of events in Perth, with lots of rides based in and around the city, with orchards, bushland, dams, hills and a stunning coastline to enjoy.
Many of the regional rides are based in south-west WA and the Great Southern, starting or finishing in Perth. There’s also some rides based in the Goldfields, with only a few in northern WA. These country rides provide the perfect opportunity to get away for the weekend and to support regional communities. It’s a great excuse for a long weekend!
You’ll find a mix of one day rides with a range of distances that cater for the novice, the daily commuter and families through to the experienced weekend warrior. As well as multi-day events that are predominantly point to point, with some looped. Many of these are quite challenging and require a reasonable level of fitness and some structured training.
You’ll also find some great bike trails in Western Australia, like the Munda Biddi Trail for bikepacking and gravel/mountain biking.
You’ll also find plenty of bicycle touring in Western Australia to choose from, with tours held throughout the whole state. Cycling tours in Western Australia are an ideal way to appreciate the beauty and history of this state.
