The Thunderbolts Adventure is a weekend on the gravel for cyclists who are looking for ‘a delightful balance of badassery, conviviality, community and unpretentiousness’. Back for it’s seventh year, this gravel event keeps on getting better!

This event starts at Gloucester, a small country town that is the gateway to the stunning Barrington Tops National Park. You’ll be camping at the historic Moonan Flat Pub at the base of the Barrington Tops.

You’ll begin in Gloucester and traverse the Barrington Tops for dinner and camping at Moonan Flat. On Sunday it’s a relaxed start with breakfast and coffee before riding back to Gloucester via Curricabark. This definitely a bucket list ride!

You don’t have to be superfit to attend this ride, but you do need to:

• Understand how to fuel your body for an extended ride covering over 100 km a day on remote gravel roads.
• Be experienced at navigating and following a GPX route and understand how to stay safe and communicate without mobile phone reception.
• Have a reasonable level of bike mechanics in case you need to perform running repairs on your bicycle eg, punctures, ripped tyres, broken chains, non-functioning gears.

You’ll be cycling up to 250 kms with approximately 5000 vm of elevation over two days. You’ll summit the Barrington Tops range, descend into Moonan Flat and return to the start point in Gloucester via a mostly remote gravel roads.

Founded in 2017 as a One Day Epic, in 2019 the ride was changed to a more manageable 2 day Overnighter but do not be fooled. This is still a big weekend of cycling for all who answer the call of the Barrington Tops.
