Event Details

The Bobbin Head Cycle Classic is an adventure into the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

The Bobbin Head Cycle Classic, organised by the Rotary clubs of Ku-ring-gai, St Ives, Turramurra & Wahroonga, is a real adventure into the northern suburbs of Sydney and the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

It caters for riders at different levels, you can complete a range of rides from the family-friendly 27km loop. Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, then the 57, 80km and 104km rides.

The 104km ride will traverse near the Pacific highway to the north before the plunge into the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. You’ll then travel down into the Bobbin Head Gorge and out again at North Turramurra. The route then travels deeper in the National Park beside the Hawkesbury River, to the east, and then north through to the West Head Lookout.

The return route of The Bobbin Head Cycle Classic diverts down to the Coal and Candle Creek before returning back up to the McCarrs Creek Rd, and then home, back to the start.

The Bobbin Head Cycle Classic is a real reminder that this National Park is so close to Sydney. Well worth the effort to appreciate your surroundings with fellow riders and the challenge.

The weather in Sydney in March is temperate being in the early autumn with a temperature range of 15 to 30 degrees C. Best to pack a light raincoat for an unexpected storm. Check the Bureau of Meteorology before the event day.

  1. what a ride, one for my bucket list ticked off. This is an amazing ride through the national parks on the Northside of Sydney. This was a real first for me with a lot of friends saying that if ever I was in the area I should go out towards Akuna bay and west head. to which I can confirm that this is a great place to ride through. It is one area that is a true joy on the back of Sydney’s north shore. it is amazing that the forefathers set up the national park. a great day out.
