Enjoy a weekend of endurance cycling with Revolve24 Australia at the Bend Motorsport Park near Adelaide.
There are 2 main events on offer: the endurance event and the community ride.
The Revolve24 is an endurance event over 24 hours (hence the name). This event is on a closed 4.95km with 55.3m elevation gain on the circuit at the Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia. This is the same track that the V8’s use and is super smooth. The Bend is a world-class development that is touted as being “near” Adelaide. Their definition of “near” is 107km from the Adelaide CBD. So you will need to drive as there is no public transport. Stuart O’Grady, the former winner of the Perry Roubaix and legend within the cycling fraternity, has been appointed as the Race Director for the Bend Endurance Challenge.
In 2019, the Bend Endurance Challenge is being held in March, unlike the previous year when it was held in January during the Tour Down Under. This made for a quite a bit of distraction during the event as riders didn’t know if they should be in Adelaide for the TDU or be down at the racetrack to do the 24-hour ride.
You can enter this challenge as a soloist or a team of 2, 4, 6 or 8 riders. All entries are open for riders 18 and above. You must be a Cycling Australia member and you can purchase a membership for just the day. You can also use this endurance event as an opportunity to raise funds for juvenile diabetes, with a reduced registration fee if you pledge to raise $1000 towards JDRF.
You can choose between the 6-hour challenge, a dusk till dawn 12-hour challenge or the circuit challenge which is the 24-hour event. An added bonus for the 24-hour challenge is that it is the only event in Australasia where you can get gain qualification for the world’s toughest bicycle race, the Race Across America (RAAM).
Please note that the event is not floodlit at night time, so riders at night will have to have their own lights (set to solid and not flashing).
There is also a community event, The Coorong Community Ride, that is being held on a different track, on Saturday. This is an event for families and friends to attend, with activities being held throughout the day.
This weekend is the perfect opportunity for family and friend to ride together on the world-class track of The Bend Motorsport Park’s 3.41km West Circuit. There will also be plenty of other activities during the day. You can try to ride a Penny Farthing bike or test out an e-bike, with skills’ sessions also being run for children by Cycling South Australia. You can even try out karting on the purpose-built Karting Circuit.
You’ll find other cycling events, like Revolve 24 Australia Endurance Challenge (Bend Motorsport Park), in our online Cycling Event Calendar.
