The Mallee Blast 1000 is a challenging bikepacking adventure for MTB, gravel and CX riders
The Mallee Blast 1000 is a self-supported 500km or 1,000km Cyclocross & Mountain bike route through the Mallee region of Victoria.
This event is based between Torquay and Swan Hill. You can ride from Swan Hill to Torquay and back to Swan Hill. Or you can ride from Swan Hill to Torquay and back to Swan Hill. The route takes in a heap of the smaller National Parks along the way on 75% gravel.
The route is designed to be gravel bike, CX and MTB friendly. Passing through regular resupply points, it is an ideal introduction to bikepacking. If speed is your thing, then it’s an excellent race which will be exciting for both riders and dot watchers alike.
The event starts on Friday October 29, 2021. There is no finish date, but I’d anticipate that you would complete this between 5 to 10 days, depending on how hard you push yourself. The event organisers have also created a Facebook Discussion Group, which already has over 800 members chatting about the event.
This looks like a great expereince for those who are new or experienced with Bikepacking.
