Event Details

Strathalbyn is the fourth of 5 rides in the Grand Slam Challenge Series

Strathalbyn is the fourth of five rides from the Gland Slam Challenge Series. Hosted by BikeSA, you will find five recreational challenge rides throughout the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Fleurieu Peninsula. You can choose to ride in one, two, three, four or all five of the rides, with each consecutive ride gradually becoming more challenging. Each of the rides combines 2 different loops of between 40km and 100km, all starting and finishing in the one location. For those who are looking for something a little less challenging, you can sign up for the Mini Slam in which you complete only the one loop.

The Gland Slam Challenge Series is perfect for cyclists who want to build their fitness and increase their endurance. It’s also a great excuse to get out regularly and to meet up with like-minded people!

The organiser, BikeSA, is a not for profit organisation, independent of government, who promote all types of cycling and is focused on improving riding condition in SA.

The Strathalbyn ride is the fourth in the Gland Slam Challenge Series. It starts at Strathalbyn, which is about 60km southeast of Adelaide on the banks of the River Angas on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

There are two distances. The route is a 75km loop, and you can choose to do either 1 loop ie 75km or 2 loops ie 150km. Being August, the nights are cool with maximum temperatures of 16 degrees! This is their dryest month of the year.
