The Challenge Tour is the opportunity for recreational cyclists to ride a day of the Santos Tour Down Under, which is held in Adelaide each year. The Santos Tour Down Under is the first event of the UCI WorldTour and starts the international pro cycling calendar in the heart of Australia’s summer.
This event is held on Day 5 of the race, in the morning which means you will be finished in time to watch the professionals race.
There are multiples distances, which start at different locations, with everyone finishing at Strathalbyn.
- Glenelg to Strathalbyn 159km
- Myponga to Strathalbyn 102km
- Victor Harbor to Strathalbyn 60km
- Goolwa to Strathalbyn 35km
Travelling by the Southern Expressway and Main South Road, the stage climbs Sellicks Hill for Subaru King of the Mountain points before continuing its ascent to Myponga (first intermediate sprint), and then travels through a series of hills and valleys through Yankalilla, Inman Valley (second intermediate sprint), the outskirts of Victor Harbor, Port Elliot, Middleton, Goolwa and an ascent back towards Strathalbyn.
You’ll find other cycling events, like the Challenge Tour, in our online Cycling Event Calendar.
