The Best Cycling Events in South Australia

For a state with a small population and only one major city, there actually quite a lot of organised cycling events in South Australia.

Their State Group, BikeSA is responsible for nearly half of the rides that are on offer each year.

The iconic UCI Tour Down Under is held in Adelaide each year, attracting world class cyclists for a week of racing.

A lot of the rides are based in the Adelaide Hills or heading south towards Victor Harbour and Kangaroo Island. There’s also a few events in the wine-growing Hahndorf and McLaren Vale wine region.  You’ll also find some famous climbs like the old Wilunga Hill, the Corkscrew and then the Norton Summit climb.

You’ll find a mix of 1 day rides with a range of distances that cater for the novice, the daily commuter and families through to the experienced weekend warrior.

There’s a range of multi-day events that tend to start or finish in Adelaide.

You’re sure to find a ride that matches your level of experience and fitness as well as a ride that will challenge you!
